Justice for the Victims of the USS Liberty & More

Now in the wake of this 2023 veterans’ day, it seems particularly important to remember the military veterans of the USS Liberty and the 34 men murdered and 171 wounded in the unprovoked attack by Israel.

IN JUNE 1967 jet aircraft and motor torpedo boats of the Defense Forces of the State of Israel brutally assaulted the American naval intelligence-gathering ship, USS Liberty, while in international waters off the coast of the Sinai Peninsula in the Mediterranean Sea. The attack was preceded by more than six hours of intense lowlevel surveillance by Israeli photo reconnaissance aircraft, which buzzed the ship as low as 200 feet directly overhead. The carefully orchestrated assault that followed was initiated by high performance jet aircraft. This was followed by slower and more maneuverable jets carrying napalm, and was finally turned over to lethal torpedo boats, which blasted a forty-foot hole in the ship’s side. The attack lasted more than two hours, deliberately killing 34 Americans and wounding at least 171 others. Over 821 rocket, cannon and machine gun holes were inflicted. When the Liberty stubbornly remained afloat despite her damage, Israeli forces machine-gunned her life rafts, firefighters, stretcher bearers, and sent troops carrying helicopters to finish the job, no survivors were to be taken.

The victims of this attack and their families have yet to see any resolve to this crime (one of many international war crimes committed by Israel). Because we have stood by and allowed for this crime to go unnoticed and the criminals behind its cover-up to remain in power, the US policy toward Israel continues to evade scrutiny as does the undue influence of Israel on our political establishment. This has allowed for a continuation of the desperate situation in Palestine and the entire Middle East as the UN security council, and all its inherent impotence, remains crippled by its five founding members, who have unequal rights to veto any resolution that would condemn Israeli atrocities. (It might actually be the case that the institution itself, born out of the ashes of the “Last Great War”, serves the interests of the same powers that shouldn’t be… the ones who conspired to bring us both world wars and much, much more in the first place. Being that the UN Headquarters sits on property donated by the Rockefeller family; it makes you wonder).

Here is a link to letters written by veterans of the USS Liberty to Benyamin Netanyahu on Memorial Day 2011 (the other holiday where we get to watch our world misleaders and orchestrators of the unjust wars (dis)honor the victims of their multiple crimes).

Memorial Day, 2011

Benjamin Netanyahu
Israeli Government
Tel Aviv, Israel

Dear Prime Minister Netanyahu,
Usually I write America’s political and military leaders on Memorial Day and Veterans Day.  I try to remind them about the men and women who serve this Country and the obligation that they have in protecting them and honoring their sacrifice.  I tell them about protecting our rights and freedoms and not let their ambitions stand in the way of the decisions they make.
I sympathize with the Jewish people with the horrors of World War II.
I also lost relatives during the war to the Nazis.  An uncle and a cousin, and two of my uncles were in slave labor camps.  I realize that the Jewish people need a homeland.  But the size of Israel has changed dramatically since 1948 through the acquisition of lands due to wars.  And this is where my sympathy with Israel ends.

It seems now, what we are currently witnessing take place in Gaza is an escalation of violence against a population that are victims of an illegal occupation. A population who has long been victimized under an apartheid regime. Due to the influence of global governing institutions like the United Nations and NATO, we get to watch as the world sits in silence; gaslit by mainstream media narratives that we are being spoon-fed by news agencies and media pundits from both political camps. Just like with the WTC attacks; the attacks that the latest Hamas attacks are being compared to; we get to watch the mainstream media and all governing bodies turn a blind eye to the contradictions to the official narratives. (A little bit of history on false flags in general would be encouraged to review).

“We are benefiting from one thing, and that is the attack on the Twin Towers and Pentagon, and the American struggle in Iraq,” He reportedly added that these events “swung American public opinion in our favor.”

Personal Awakening to Israeli Foreign Policy

My discovery of alternative information about the US/Israel relationship was around 2012, shortly after recognizing how scripted and unobjective our media and politics were in their silencing of reasonable discourse coming from the Ron Paul camp in his run for the White House. (Ron Paul speaking on resolution to increase aid to Israel in 2001). My “what the fuck is going on” investigations that were inspired by that, led me to discover the unbelievable political and media handling of anyone, left, right or center, who was speaking in any way unfavorably against US policies toward Israel and their relationship with US policy makers. I came across conservative Democrats, like Jim Traficant and Cynthia McKinney, whose unpopular exposures of Israeli influence in politics were met with significant media and political campaigns against them. In both cases this led to significant consequences (perhaps especially for Traficant).

With the current escalation of conflict and the bazaar way it is being condoned and condemned in the mainstream media, the US/ Israeli relationship has reached a new level of criminality and absurdity. I implore people to take some time to learn more about the history of Israel, AIPAC, Hamas and all things related to US/Israeli relations (to include all manner of direct business dealings through US security contracts, international industry, NGO’s, tech-companies, etc…)

Sane Perspectives

Below are some perspectives I have come across on these issues from academics, activists and others that have largely been silenced or scrubbed from the 24/7 news feeds:

The Zionist movement went on to found the State of Israel in 1948, and Orthodox Jewish opposition to the State of Israel continues to this day. The organization Torah Jews is dedicated to informing the world, and in particular the American public and politicians, that not all Jews support the ideology of the State of Israel. In fact, a great number of Orthodox Jews view the ideology of that state as diametrically opposed to the teachings of traditional Judaism.

Instructive Example of the Political Process of Dis-Information and Political Spin-Doctoring

Below is an instructive article on the methods employed by news media to channel public opinion (on both sides of the Isle) to muddy the waters and condition people to accept insanity and Israeli supremacy over peace and resolve.

Trump says ‘Israel literally owned Congress’ in interview – The former US president echoed an antisemitic conspiracy theory in an interview on the Ari Hoffman Show Friday. “Israel had such power – and rightfully,” he said.

Jerusalem Post- By NATAN KHODORKOVSKY, NOVEMBER 3, 2021

Notice how the article headline and story unobjectively presents the very real situation of overreaching influence of Israel in US politics as another one of Trump’s crazy “conspiracy theories”. And then recognize how Trump uses this “revelation” to demonstrate how the reduction of this egregious (AIPAC) influence is a bad thing, using the low hanging fruits (i.e. controlled opposition) AOC and Ilhan Omar as examples. Those among these prominent media platforms that control narratives understand how valuable characters like Trump, Omar and AOC are to managing public opinion; such as how these left gatekeepers lead us to (wrongly) perceive the bombs and military aid to Ukraine as justified and humane and the Israeli bombing and military aid as not. While the right gatekeepers (like Trump) lead us to believe that if the “woke”, “leftist” politicians and pundits are all against increasing military aid to Israel and sympathetic to the plight of the Palestinians, the appropriate reaction is to double down on the insanity of calling for more Israeli influence over our politics and policies and acceptance of Israeli apartheid. (A sane perspective coming from a true peace activist on the left can be found in the works of Cindy Sheehan, who isn’t a blind follower of these corporate NGO-sponsored, global governance shills. She rightfully sees both the Ukraine and Israeli situations as unjust and the media handling of them both to be rife with treasonous propaganda).

The Jerusalem Post article provides a good example of the kind of spin that all the mainstream media outlets use to dissuade people from taking the more informative track to awareness of the situation in Israel. Any politician or pundit who was truly interested in trying to resolve the Israeli conflict and bring resolve to the situation in the Middle East would, at the very least, engage the challenging information provided in the links I shared in the previous section. And they WOULD NOT turn a blind eye to the veterans and victims of the unprovoked Israeli attack on the USS Liberty! (Certainly not when directly confronted about it, as John McCain was while giving one of those Veteran’s Day speeches (dis)honoring our US soldiers who fought and died for these asshole politicians; the ones who would rather cover up Israel’s war crimes than risk losing favor in our Israeli-Zionist controlled Washington DC).
